10 Lovely night we have just spend in the Villa la Pineda number 4 in Calonge. All of us are homesick now. The villa is beautifully located in a nice and quiet area. The layout af all equipment is superb. Renting a villa is one thin though, the couple who runs everything down there makes it as if you come over to your own place, as if you meet family. They, Frances and Roy, go far beyond of what is to be expected from people who take care of the houses and the pool. As an example I would like to mention that typicaaly always at least of our 4 children go sick during any holiday, and yes this time as well... Discovering that on a Saturday night is by far the worst night. AN inquiry at Frances and Roy on Pharmacy availability led to them doing a check in the entire neigbourhood for some medication for our children, and they succeeded, lateron on hte evening they brought us medication for our kids. As if we were over at family. Nothing but good on the villa, the pool (exellently maintained by Roy) and it;s equipment. We had a great vacation. It is one of the first times I have been on holiday, having viewed the photographs on-line to find that the house was more beautiful in reality! Honestly the photographs did not do it justice! For starters it was much bigger than we expected, the pool area was superb, with sun loungers, and an outdoor shower. We were a group of four adults and two small children, and felt the layout worked perfectly, as there was always an area of shade, yet day-long sunshine, if you do want sit-out and soak up the rays. Internally the villa was terrific, with all the mod-cons - even a dishwasher, which was a huge bonus!!!! Everything was very clean and in excellent order. The development was lovely, all the neighbours seemed very friendly, out of the twelve villas only two of them were rented out, the rest were owner occupied, which gave it a feel of a community. Both Roy and Frances were extremly helpful during our stay. Jonathan (aged two) was particluarly upset when he realised Roy would not be coming home with us! The area/ setting was lovely, it is surrounded by pine forrests. Calonge is a typically Spanish village, very pretty, cobbled streets, little balconies etc. It is quite small, but has everything you may need in terms of food shopping, and even has a weekly market! The only negative is that it the location does mean you have to drive every where, there aren't any little shops or restaurants within walking distance. Altogether a great holiday, we would definatley recommend it to anyone thinking of going! H.T. 05.08.2006
The villa was in excellent condition when we arrived. We found Roy and Frances Nelson to be immensely friendly and helpful in every way. I would thoroughly recommend a stay in this villa. The locality was also nice, particularly the nearby town of Platya d'Aro, which has lots of good quality shops and restaurants as well as a beach and waterpark. It was nice to see a friendly face when we turned up at the villa very late in the evening. We couldn't have found a more wonderful place for our vacation! After searching the internet for weeks, I'm so glad I chose North Spain Villas and La Pineda. Jim and Patsy and Roy and his wife were so helpful with our every need - having them so close by made our stay all the more enjoyable. All the neighbors were very nice, suggesting places to visit and dine, sightseeing, travel directions - anything we could ask for was provided. The area where we stayed (Calonge) was also very convenient as a home base for our daily sightseeing trips, everything we wanted to see was no more than 2 hours away by car which was perfect. The house was also beautiful, very clean and very comfortable for the four of us. Jim and Patsy provided perfect service for our housekeeping needs, even going so far as to ride to the grocery store with us our first night, to help us with our shopping! This was my first time out of the USA and I was a little worried about visiting a foreign country, but they put us at ease right away and couldn't have been more helpful in every way. I can't say enough about the beauty and the scenery in the area. If you are looking for a quiet, family place for a vacation, close to shopping and sightseeing, but with a more relaxed atmosphere, then La Pineda is the place for you. D.V. 20.04.2005
